The Morning After! ☼

Hi Dear Readers!

Today I woke up feeling extremely tired! Launching my blog yesterday was a dream coming true for me, but I must admit, I have not realized it has happened yet! There was one more reason for me creating DearDiary, which I didn’t mention yesterday. I don’t feel like I’ve ever stuck long enough with something, to become really good at it or accomplished it. Giving up was just easier when things got hard, rather than fighting through the hurdles and improve. DearDiary was to be the proof that I actually can accomplish something, and that I would have the self-discipline to stick with it. There was plenty of times where I wanted to rip my hair out of my head. But to my surprise there was no point that I wanted to quit. I think that means I’m doing something I actually love, and I’m sure the feeling of achievement will come, once the fact that I have finally followed through on my dream has sunk in. Food for thought I suppose. ☼

Now, enough of all of that! I promised yesterday to go more into depth about the first skill I want to learn. Along with the blog, learning how to dance has been a goal of mine for a long time. I love the intimacy of a slow dance and I love the power of a group dance. Story telling through music and movement is extremely beautiful and powerful and I would love to be able to choreograph equally amazing dance routines. Roughly two years ago I bought a membership at this studio that offered dance classes and I went a couple of times a week. Words cannot describe the feelings I got when I nailed the choreography, and I got to dance along with the other members in the class. It. Was. Awesome! I found that losing myself in the dance routines helped me cope with my anxiety, and it was a great way of turning something paralyzing into something so life giving. Sadly Corona came, they closed down the studio, and I didn’t do much dancing for quite some time after that.

But! It is never too late to pick up an old hobby of yours, so I’m going to practice what I preach! The next bit of time I’ll start to implement more tings that will aid my dance practice.

Oh, I should probably mention which types of dance it is I wish to try my hand at. In the end it’s my goal to mix together elements from many different dance genres to form my own style. But to start out, I want to learn hiphop and contemporary dance. I have already signed up to an online dance studio, so I can’t wait to start! Of course I will document the journey, and hopefully you guys will join me in learning how to dance! Feel free to pick some other dance genres, if those I have chosen isn’t quite you! Please tell me in the comments if there is anything you always have wanted to learn. We could keep each other motivated! ☼

Lastly. I will be starting my second semester at university next week, so after getting settled into my new routine, I am planning on adding more visual element to the blog. More specifically pictures and small videos that will have relevance to the blog entry of the week. Just in case you want a nice supplement to the written word. ☼ The reason for this, is that I’m a sucker for aesthetics, and I find videography as a cute and pleasing way of displaying that. So please, stay tuned for these goodies!

I hope you will have an amazing week, and that there maybe is an old hobby of yours that you should pick up again!

Love, Mie ☼
