New Year, Spirituality and Anxiety during Full Moons

New Year, New Me Project.

Hi guys, how are you doing? I hope your first week in the new year has gone by well. Have you implemented any new year’s resolutions? If so, please share them in the comments! I’ve personally taken the traditional “New Year, New Me” saying to heart and made it my own. I’m planning to make a YouTube video on my YouTube Channel (Which you can find right here) about it, as well as a blog post, which should be posted some time next week. So please stay tuned for all those exciting additions. But I’d like to add some comments right now, as a little teaser perhaps. New Year, Spirituality and Anxiety during Full Moons

It’s been many months since I last posted on here, which is quite funny as that post was about me returning to blogging. But in that very post, I mentioned from then on, I would only post when I had something to say. I hated the feeling of “being forced” to produce content in efforts to stay relevant and consistent. I still feel that way, honestly. But what you don’t know, is that I have approximately 10 unfinished blog entries in my drafts, all started in the time since last I posted. So, it’s certainly not due to lack of having something to say I have been MIA. I know very well the reasons as to why they have remained in my drafts. And those very reasons I have decided to challenge in the new year as a part of my “New Year, New Me” project.

Making anxiety more comprehensible. New Year, Spirituality and Anxiety during Full Moons

So as an unintentional first step in that project, I’m deciding to get out of my own way, and finally make a blogpost again. If you are reading this post, you might be familiar with the themes I talk about on this blog. I thought it would be interesting to talk about anxiety in specific situations. Previously, I’ve mainly talked about anxiety in a general sense, and how to manage it in productive ways, and not very much in which situations it can be experienced. That of course comes down to each individual experience. But in mentioning various instances where I am personally being challenged by my anxiety, it might make it more comprehensible and you fellow anxiety warriors out there hopefully will feel less alone in your experience. Anxiety and Spirituality.

When I talk about anxiety, it is obviously coloured by my own life experience and perception(which is hopefully the reason you read this post; that you think I have some interesting, useful takes). So, in efforts to make you understand where I’m coming from when I cover anxiety and trauma in various forms, I’d like to give an explanation as to how I approach life, I suppose. Now I realize that what I’m about to tell goes straight against the previous headline, saying that I’ll make anxiety more comprehensible. But I’ll try my best in explaining this, as I think it’s very important.

Something I work with parallel to my anxiety management, is spirituality. Spirituality can be a very big nondefinable, “fluffy” term, which I still have trouble wrapping my head around. For me it’s not from religious origin (though I grew up Christian protestant, and still feel connected to the faith in certain ways). With spirituality still being something that I’m trying to define for myself, I found a word that represents it quite well in my mind. Energy Work.

This to my knowledge is a generally accepted idea of Spirituality. It essentially means that we’re all energy and manipulate energy in various ways. Or in other, maybe more fluffy words, anything and everything (including us) are just frequencies of vibrations. To give an example: You’ve probably tried entering a room where the mood was super joyous and uplifting. Or oppositely, the mood being super low, making you all bummed out. You may also know it as your gut feeling and/or intuition. Or energy.

Anxiety during Full Moons

If you don’t really understand what I mean, don’t worry. There are many aspects of energy work that I still don’t fully understand. But my intuition, or gut feeling, tells me this is something that resonates to my very soul. New Year and Anxiety during Full Moons

Anyway, my point with all of this is related to full moons. You may have heard that some people have trouble in sleeping during full moons. And that may be caused by energies, you know that fully thing I mentioned before. Because during full moons energies go literally crazy. People can experience these energies in many different ways. Some may not be faced at all. Sudden drops in productivity, tensions rising high, randomly feeling depressed, or unexplainable spikes in anxiousness. Or a mix of all these examples.

Before I reached this point in my personal journey, I couldn’t understand why I was randomly being “punished” by anxiety attacks. While anxiety certainly can have specific triggers, it can also easily be influenced by fluctuations of the energies around us. For instance, in strong energetical events such as full moons.

If you wish to nerd the specifics of what full moons offer, you can get a much deeper understanding as to why your anxiety acts the way it does. And through that understanding you can find new tools that can help you in your anxiety management.

If I told you that full moons are excellent opportunities to release what no longer serves you, (for instance, bad habits, excuses, or toxic thought patterns), what would that make you feel/think?

I hope this post has planted a small seed, and if not, that completely fine. I hope you go on to have an absolutely amazing day. You are strong, creative, and resourceful! You got this!

Love, Mie
