LookBook – Embrace Yourself
Hi Dear Readers!
Some people may think that fashion is stupid and is only meant to keep us warm. Hey, I have been on that wagon myself. That may also be true. But for many, fashion is a way for people to express themselves. A creative outlet where you can showcase your personality to the world. In the spirit of that, I wanted to create a Look Book where I tried to capture different snapshots of my personality and story. We all have a story and gone through highs and lows. But I feel like a lot of people cling to a certain image they have of themselves rather than accept themselves as they are. Myself included. So, this Look Book is also to empower all of us to embrace ourselves without judgement. My intention is for you the find inspiration or motivation in any of these styles or background stories, for you to start taking an active roll in your own life! LookBook – Embrace Yourself
Remember, only take what resonates with you from this post and leave the rest. You are on your own journey, and only you know what the best for yourself is.
Outfit 1 – Free like a Butterfly
- Purple Flower Butterfly Dress
- Butterfly Earrings
- Chunky Loafers
As the name suggests, the light and fun feel to the butterfly dress gives a sense of freedom. There are many aspects of life where we can feel trapped. But more often than not, it is limitations we put on ourselves. Maybe it’s due to certain belief systems, experiences or surroundings we have. So, this outfit serves as a reminder to keep an open mind and not let ourselves be bound by the chains of the past. Live in the present and do what you love.
Outfit 2 – Embracing your Everyday Princess
- Tool Dress
- Sandals
- Cherry Earrings
When I grew up, I was a biiiiiiig tomboy, and I still am to a large degree. There is nothing wrong with that, but I have neglected to take care of my feminine side. I saw how pretty the girls were in my class, and I never thought I could pull off wearing jewellery or dresses, much less feeling comfortable wearing them. But apart of spiritual healing is realizing that we are part masculine and part feminine, no matter the gender/sex we may have. So, this outfit is for the little princess inside us!
Outfit 3 – Tough like a cookie
- White Button Down
- Reflective Workout Pants.
- Silver jewelry
- Combat Boots
This outfit is really an homage to my younger self. As I mentioned I was a huge tomboy. Actually, it’s only as of recently I been consciously inviting more colours, dresses and skirts into my life. That would’ve been unheard of a couple of years back. Don’t get me wrong, I still absolutely love this style of clothing, and I still wear it every now and then. But we grow as people all the time, and new things start to influence our personality, views, etc.. Our past is something we can learn from but also something we shouldn’t get stuck in.
Outfit 4 – Be your own Boss
- Simple Dress Shirt
- Wide Dress Pants
- Lace Corset
- Chunky Loafers
We need to take charge of our own lives, instead of letting others rule us. I like to think that this outfit is an inspiration to my future self to not sit back and take responsibility for myself. I have the strength and willpower to shape my future as I seem fit. Confidence and self worth are skills than can be trained. The hardest part is starting to stand up for yourself. I remember when I first tried to do so, it was not as scary as I’ve made it up to be in my head.
