5 Conscious Morning Routine Ideas!♥

Hi Dear Readers♥

In my self healing journey, one thing that has helped me tremendously is a powerful morning routine. Starting your day out on a good note, I’ve found is setting the tone for the rest of the day. Like, if you wake up and the first thing you tell yourself is “Ugh, this sucks”, then you have already made a bad mindset for the day. But Life doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom all the time. Making positive changes in your life is possible, all it takes is conscious decisions and actions behind your words. And a good place to start, is making some positive changes to the first hours in your day. So, I thought I’d give you 5 ideas to get a Conscious Morning Routine going for yourself.

Remember, this post is written purely on personal experience. Only take what resonates with you and leave the rest. You are on your own journey, and only you know what the best for yourself is.

1. Incorporate a proper sleeping schedule♥

I suppose you could say that this point starts before the first hours in the day. But it might be the most important one. At one of the lowest points in my life, my sleeping schedule was nonexistent. I was tired all the time and had no energy for anything but sitting and watching videos on YouTube or playing videogames.

For maybe 6 months now, I’ve been very aware of getting 7-9 continuous hours of sleep. On top of that creating a bedtime routine, that makes the conditions for having a good night’s rest. I am by no means successful every time. The moon cycle and my own menstrual cycle usually has some say as well. But the point is to acknowledge the importance of having a good night’s sleep. I’ve covered this in my blog post on How to Deal with Anxiety Constructively. Feel free to check it out!

2. Morning Meditation

In my opinion, you almost can’t have a conscious morning routine without talking about meditation. Prioritizing a morning meditation will help you start your day out on a positive note. It creates a mindful and relaxing space, that will relieve you of stress. That way you will get the energy and clarity to take on your day the best possible way. After I started my morning meditations my anxiety symptoms reduced like 80%. My productivity, or more specifically my want to be productive, has increased as well. And mind you, this is from simply meditating 10-15 min. a day.

3. Light Morning Exercise

Even though it can be hard to get out of bed in the morning, a great way to give the body a boost of energy is some light exercise. This can be anything from some light stretching, a morning walk/run or biking to school, work, etc. I personally prefer to work out in the morning hours or around noon, no matter the intensity. Then I know I have given my body the exercise that it needs, and then I don’t have to work out later after work where I might be tired. Even though I wrote ‘light’ exercise, it can of course be any intensity that makes you feel good. It’s the entire point, that you start listening to your own body, it’s needs, and act accordingly.

4. Cut the News

This point is of course not limited to be done in the morning time. All the news is doing is bombarding your with drama and destruction, putting a strain on your nervous system from when you wake up. If you feel like you are easily affected by what you’re watching, consider stop watching the news. You’ll find that your world becomes a lot more relaxed and positive. You no longer expose yourself to things you can’t control, which will help ease anxiety. I have not watched the news for years, and I’m only happier for it. And no, you don’t NEED to keep up with the news to stay informed. Most of the news is just junk, and it does not help anybody that you are left feeling helpless. Consume what you must but leave the rest. This leads on to the next point:

5. Energy Protection – Spiritual Health

Now this is a bit of a spiritual point, so if this is a little too fluffy for you, feel free to skip. To set yourself up for success for the day, it is a good idea to protect your energy. This is particularly relevant for sensitive people, me included. As we are easily affected by other people, it can be incredibly draining to be around other people. But it is possible to stand strong in ourselves, and still interact with others, even for longer periods of time.

Set your intention for the day, with positive, uplifting affirmations. For instance: “I love myself” and “I only allow positive, healing energy to enter”. Consistency is key. Essential oils are amazing to support in setting spiritual, mental and physical boundaries like this. After my morning meditations, I use essential oils and affirmations to feel empowered, strong and ready for the day.
